John Kunkel
John Kunkel is a musician, producer, composer, sound designer, and label manager.
Born in Oakland, California, he was raised in Uruguay and has Brazilian American heritage. He began creating music at the young age of 13 and went on to form the critically acclaimed electronic synth-pop band, The New Division in 2007.
In 2015, he created the progressive and trance alias, John Grand, supported by Above & Beyond and Armin Van Buuren, and currently signed to Enhanced Music and Euphonic Records.
With over 15 years of experience, John has worked as a sound designer for companies such as Sample Magic and Splice, where he currently holds the position of Senior Label Manager and works closely with the AI and Machine Learning Team. He has also published music with West One Music Group, Dynamic Music, Sony Music, and Spiritune.
He has toured extensively around the globe with The New Division, opening for acts such as Peter Hook and Peter Murphy, and has produced for artists such as Clive Farrington, Duke Dumont, Dave Keuning, The Chain Gang of 1974, and NINA. He has also sound designed and produced over 90+ sample packs.
